Steve Jordan Interview

Grammy Winner on Johnnie Memories

A double dose of good news today. Drummer extraordinaire Steve Jordan has agreed to do an interview for “Johnnie Be Good” and that’s significant for a couple of reasons. Jordan, a Grammy winner, was the drummer in the all star band featured in “Hail! Hail! Rock ‘N’ Roll”, so he got an up close look at how and why the Chuck Berry concert and documentary jump-started Johnnie’s career.

Jordan has had an amazing career. Currently he’s touring with Eric Clapton and that’s when I’ll interview him, when Clapton appears in St. Louis next month. Before that Jordan was in the John Mayer Trio. His body of work and the people he’s collaborated with is a mile long: The Rolling Stones, James Taylor, James Brown, Chaka, Khan, Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Tom Jones, The Blues Brothers, Steely Dan…..are you impressed yet? I certainly am. His vast knowledge of music was on display in the amazing documentary “Standing in the Shadows of Motown” (rent it if you haven’t seen it!) and I’m honored that he’ll be part of telling Johnnie’s story. And if Eric Clapton should want to say a few words, I guess we can all agree that would be pretty cool. The other good news, The St. Louis Business Journal is doing a feature on the production of “JBG” which will appear in Friday’s edition. Still working on an interview date with Joe Perry of Aerosmith; maybe in St. Louis when the band plays St. Louis.
