Before they joined Conan O’Brien’s television band, guitarist Jimmy Vivino, bassist Mike Merritt, and drummer James Wormworth toured internationally and recorded with Johnnie Johnson.
Editing is underway for JOHNNIE BE GOOD, a feature length documentary about Rock and Roll Hall of Fame pianist Johnnie Johnson.

Before they joined Conan O’Brien’s television band, guitarist Jimmy Vivino, bassist Mike Merritt, and drummer James Wormworth toured internationally and recorded with Johnnie Johnson.
The Missouri Arts Council has approved a $1700 grant to be used for the production of JOHNNIE BE GOOD. This grant will pay for graphics artwork to be used at the end of the documentary.

Road trip #23 brought me back to LA to speak with bassist Mike Merritt and drummer James Wormworth, who toured and recorded with Johnnie Johnson. If you watched Conan O’Brien on NBC, chances you saw Merritt and Wormworth, along with guitarist Jimmy Vivino.

2009 was a great year for JOHNNIE BE GOOD, and hopefully 2010 will see six years of travel and interviews become a film about one of rock and roll’s originators. As I reflect, I can’t help but be amazed at the karma of Johnnie Johnson and how it keeps resulting in “happy accidents”.

Mac Praises Johnnie As A Major Influence
In a previous blog, I told you about my trip to Austin TX this year to interview Ian McLagan. Mac is known for being a member of The Faces with Rod Stewart and Ron Wood.
